Is chemotherapy right for my pet?

Our veterinary team can support you in deciding which treatment is best for your pet. We can provide useful information to allow you to make the best decision. The goal of chemotherapy is to improve your pet’s quality of life and extend the amount of precious days you have together. Depending on the type of cancer affecting your pet, its stage and the part of the body it’s affecting, we’ll determine if your pet is a good candidate for chemotherapy. One of the most common types of cancers we might recommend chemotherapy for is lymphoma.

How does it work?

When your pet has cancer, cancer cells might attack certain parts of their body. Chemotherapy is a group of medications that target and kill cancer cells. We monitor your pet closely throughout their treatment to ensure chemotherapy isn’t having any adverse effects on their health. Our compassionate and supportive veterinary team are here to take care of your pet’s needs.

How might it affect my pet?

Chemotherapy for furry family members is a lot less difficult on your pet’s body than treatments for humans. The drugs are administered through an injection. While most pets don’t experience any side effects, there is a chance your pet might experience some. Some of these might include loss of appetite, diarrhea or vomiting. Rest assured they are minor and usually subside in a matter of hours.
