Emergency Care for Pets

We know it can be scary when your pet has a medical emergency. When your pet needs expert and compassionate care the most, our veterinary team is here to support you. In addition to years of experience, we’re highly trained to deal with your pet’s emergency or urgent care needs. If your pet needs medical care, please call us before coming in if you’re able to at 902.865.6400.

How do you handle emergency cases?

Our veterinary team is trained and equipped to handle emergencies your pet might have, 6 days a week. Our emergency team on duty usually includes a veterinarian and several technicians working together to save your pet’s life. If you can, it’s helpful to give us a call before you arrive so our team can give advice about your pet’s emergency. For example, if your pet has been injured, it might be helpful to transport them in a position that makes them the most comfortable and doesn’t agitate the wound. Emergency cases might look like:

  • Respiratory distress
  • Rat bait poisoning
  • Injuries
  • Chocolate ingestion

    Can you still see my pet if the issue isn’t life-threatening?

    If your pet needs urgent care for a non life-threatening issue, our veterinarians might be able to see your pet in between scheduled appointments. An urgent care issue might be when you feel your pet needs to be seen before you can schedule an appointment with us. When you arrive, our receptionists can give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

    Dear Clients,

    We want to thank everyone for their patience in recent months. We have adhered, as strictly as we could, to the Public Health Directives throughout COVID and with this in mind, we are pleased to say that masks are no longer mandatory at our hospital. You may still see staff wearing masks when in close contact with clients. This is a purely personal choice. 

    Our doors are now open and you are welcome to accompany your pets into the clinic for their appointments.

    We require at least 48-72 hours for all medication refills as we are still experiencing delays with some items, but we will inform you of any backordered items.

    We can still receive your food orders via phone or email, however, we now have an online store that you can access directly from the front page of our website. Please check out the free shipping and autoship discounts available.

    Due to being short staffed at this time, we ask for your patience and kindness as we try to navigate through these busy times. We are doing the very best we can. If the phone is busy, please email or attempt to call again.
